PSL 11 Hyderabad

Ahead of the highly anticipated 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11), Hyderabad franchise owner Fawad Sarwar has shared major updates regarding the team’s identity, official launch, and captaincy selection.

In a recent interview, Sarwar confirmed that the Hyderabad team name and logo have already been finalized, while the official launch is expected to take place around the PSL Player Auction on February 11.

Hyderabad Team Name and Logo Finalised

Fawad Sarwar revealed that the Hyderabad franchise has completed the branding process and finalized both the team name and logo ahead of PSL 11. According to him, fans will get to see the official identity soon.

He stated that the franchise’s official launch will likely be announced close to the PSL Auction date, which is scheduled for February 11.

Hyderabad Captain Will Be Chosen on Merit

While speaking about leadership plans, Sarwar made it clear that the Hyderabad captain for PSL 11 will not be selected based on seniority, popularity, or fame.

He emphasized that captaincy will be awarded strictly on leadership qualities, not on a player’s reputation.

“We have our own selection process, and the decision will be taken after full consultation,” Sarwar said.

He further added that the captain could be any player, Pakistani or foreign, as long as he meets the team’s leadership requirements.

“The most important thing is good leadership. Whoever meets that criteria will be given the responsibility.”

Fawad Sarwar Praises Babar Azam

Sarwar also expressed admiration for former Pakistan captain Babar Azam, calling him his favorite cricketer. He said that if given the opportunity, he would love to have Babar in Hyderabad’s squad.

He added that every franchise would want a player of Babar Azam’s calibre because of his consistency and world-class batting.

However, Sarwar clarified that no final decisions have been made yet, as the franchise will first wait to see which players are retained by their current teams.

Hyderabad Coaching Staff Announced

Earlier, the Hyderabad franchise confirmed that former Australian cricketer Jason Gillespie will serve as head coach for PSL 11.

In addition, the franchise has appointed Grant Bradburn and Craig White as assistant coaches, strengthening the team’s coaching setup ahead of their debut season.

PSL 11 Schedule and New Teams

The PSL 11 season is scheduled from March 26 to May 3, and it will be bigger than ever. This edition will feature eight teams, as the league has expanded.

Two new franchises — Hyderabad and Sialkot — are joining the Pakistan Super League this season, increasing competition and excitement for fans across the country.
