Foreign Player Registration Opens Ahead of PSL 11 2026
LAHORE: The registration process for overseas players for the 11th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has officially begun, with the tournament set to kick off on March 26. The PSL management confirmed through its official social media platforms that foreign players can register until February 3, after which the window will be closed.
PSL 11 is being termed a historic season as the league expands to eight teams for the first time, with Hyderabad and Sialkot joining as new franchises.
Another major change this season is the introduction of a player auction system, replacing the traditional draft format. The auction is scheduled to take place on February 11, marking a significant shift in player selection.
During an auction workshop held on Sunday, PSL officials briefed franchise representatives in detail about the player retention rules and auction mechanism, ensuring all teams are aligned with the new process.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also revealed the base prices for players ahead of the auction, along with clearly defined minimum bid increments in Pakistani Rupees. Player base prices have been fixed at PKR 4.2 crore, PKR 2.2 crore, PKR 1.1 crore, and PKR 60 lakh, providing franchises with a structured valuation system.
The minimum bidding increments are set at PKR 250,000 for bids below PKR 1.1 crore, PKR 500,000 for bids under PKR 2.2 crore, PKR 1 million for bids under PKR 4.2 crore, and PKR 1.5 million for bids exceeding PKR 4.2 crore. Franchises are free to raise bids beyond these minimum limits.
Each team squad will consist of 16 to 20 players, including five to seven overseas players, depending on squad size. Teams must field three to four foreign players in the playing XI.
Additionally, squads are required to include at least two uncapped Under-23 players, with one mandatory appearance in the playing XI. Players retained or picked in PSL 11 will be offered two-year contracts with their respective franchises.

For future seasons, franchises will be allowed to retain up to seven players for PSL 12, followed by a major auction where a maximum of five players can be retained. Any released players will re-enter the auction pool.
Moreover, teams will have the option to directly sign one overseas player who did not take part in PSL 10. To facilitate these additional signings, the team salary cap of PKR 45 crore may be increased to PKR 50.5 crore, with PCB providing financial support for elite foreign players.
